Abstract

The starting point for this research is the construction of a concept of ‘comfort’ in the perspective of clients and nurses in hospital wards. To do this, Kolcaba’s theory of comfort and Dahlberg’s theory of concept were used. The method is qualitative, with obtaining of predicates through the application of an open-ended questionnaire, half of which were given to clients and half to nurses. The information was processed following the stages suggested by Bardin. The results showed that 61% of clients and nurses attribute comfort to well-being, indicating that a physical-biological point of view dominates.
