Abstract

The changes in the health area demand more flexible and adaptive profile from the nurses, and the necessity to develop new competences. This article reflects on the general competences required for nursing management considering the technological and managerial changes observed in hospitals. It presents the new managerial scenarios and some aspects that are necessary to acquire this competence, such as knowledge, attitudes and opportunities. It is considered that the nurse manager has the responsibility to provide a learning environment where workers can acquire new competences and exercise them freely.
