CONOCIMIENTO DE ESTUDIANTES DE EDUCACIÓN SECUNDARIA SOBRE SOPORTE BÁSICO DE VIDA

Abstract

Objetivo: Evaluar los conocimientos de los estudiantes de educación secundaria sobre soporte vital básico y analizar las asociaciones entre el nivel de conocimiento y las variables sociodemográficas y académicas.

Método: Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, transversal y correlacional. Muestra constituida por 59 estudiantes de educación secundaria de una Escuela Secundaria del área metropolitana de Porto - Portugal.  Se recurrieron análisis descriptivos, coeficiente de correlación de Pearson y prueba t (o pruebas no paramétricas cuando no se verificaban los supuestos).

Resultados: 35 (59,3%) tenían formación en soporte vital básico y 52 (88,1%) tenían interés en realizar la formación. Solo siete (11,9%) tenían conocimiento sobre un desfibrilador externo automático y 14 (23,7%) identificaron en qué momento se debe pedir ayuda diferenciada.

Conclusión: El conocimiento sobre soporte vital básico puede contribuir a obtener mejores resultados en situaciones de paro cardiorrespiratorio, debiendo los estudiantes aumentar las competencias en esta área, con recurso a la formación en el contexto escolar.
