Abstract

Objetivo: Caracterizar el perfil epidemiológico de los casos y muertes por lepra en Mato Grosso - Brasil, de 2011 a 2020.

Método: estudio observacional basado en la población de todos los casos y muertes por lepra notificados entre 2011 y 2020. Posteriormente, se emparejaron los individuos declarados y se estimó la tendencia mediante la regresión de Prais-Winsten.

Resultados: Se registraron 37.623 nuevos casos en los años de estudio, una tasa media de 114,7/100.000 habitantes, con tasas de incidencia más elevadas en los casos multibacilares y en los varones, así como en la proporción de muertes (58%; 88,2% respectivamente). En cuanto a la tendencia, ha aumentado con los años y en el sexo femenino.

Conclusión: Los resultados sugieren que existe un perfil de más casos incidentes, posibles zonas de propagación de la enfermedad y un retraso en el diagnóstico, lo que pone de manifiesto la necesidad de utilizar indicadores como forma de seguimiento de la endemia, de reforzar la atención integral y la vigilancia de la lepra.
