Abstract

With the aim to promote a reflection regarding the concept of the education in health and its objectives it
was done a survey of its practical through the history of the public health in Brazil. It was verified that the education in
traditional health, used since the Old Republic is not adjusted to improve the conditions of health of the population and
don´t agrees with the intentions of the current system of health. Thus, other methodologies and conceptions to educate
in health appeared. Being them, popular education in health and dialogical education with basis on dialogue and the
improvement on population´s life conditions.
