Abstract

It is a descriptive research study with a qualitative approach which aimed to describe how home visits are
held by professionals from the Family Health Strategy (FHS) team. It was carried out in a municipality of Curitiba Metropolitan
Area/ Parana State, Brazil in nine FHS units having 24 health team professionals as subjects. Data collection was held by
means of a semi-structured interview, recorded, transcribed and analyzed according to content analysis. Three categories
emerged: home visit features, home visit potentials and facilities and difficulties of the home visits. The study enabled to
apprehend the facilitated access of individuals to the health system; home visit as the potential to strengthen family care;
professionals’ bonding to the community; space for health team’s collective construction; more humanized care; difficulties
that enable health team’s different look at changing actions in this process.
