Objective: To develop and validate a conceptual map as an educational strategy to improve communication between healthcare professionals and aged people receiving palliative care.
Method: A methodological study conducted between May 2024 and January 2025 in three stages: scoping review; development of a conceptual map structured into four categories (verbal communication, nonverbal communication, training and professional ethics, and support strategies); content validation by judges and semantic validation by healthcare professionals.
Results: The scoping review included 15 studies on communication in palliative care, which informed the development of the conceptual map. The material showed a content validity index of 0.96 among raters and a semantic validity index of 0.95 among healthcare professionals.
Conclusion: The conceptual map proved to be a valid educational resource with innovative potential and relevance to clinical practice, promoting communication and contributing to humanized care for aged person in palliative care.
