Populational dynamic and corporal distribution of the larvae Dermatobia hominis (Linnaeus jr. 1788) in bovines of Nelore race
Abstract
Aiming to know the epidemiology and bioecology of Dermatobia hominis larvae in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul, 12 Nelore females of approximately 18 months old, which were bred in extensible regimen were utilized. Within a period of 12 months, every month the animals were gathered into a corral and by palpation and inspection all the dermal nodules were counted and mapped according to their corporal distribution. In that period it was observed a total of 294 dermal nodules and the more parasitized corporal region was the palette (24.52%), followed by rib (15.64%) and flank (13.60%). The fore regions of the animals showed 71.09% of the observed larvae. Population fluctuation of the Dermatobia hominis registered a greater number of larvae during summer time, when it was observed 80.26% of nodules with a clear influence of the temperature on these population increases.
