The present article aims at presenting some parameters of Goethe’s “science of nature”, especially from his discoveries made in his journey to Italy. It is from the appreciation of the natural and artistic landscape that the poet will apprehend a fundamental phenomenon (Urphänomen), which will be his morphologic and aesthetic grounds. Emphasis is given to his approaches of young German naturalist Alexander Von Humboldt. Both of them share the idea of an organic whole, captured by intuition and appraised by the scientist’s and the artist’s eye.
