Abstract

The poor results from development policies in the 90s highlighted the need to reflect on the concept, practice and interests involved in local development projects. In the context of this discussion emergedinnovative practices from the perspective of environmental conservation and social organization. TheMaria de Barro project that is discussed here is an experience from a key issue in the city of Nazareth. The degradation of soils merges and correlates to various other problems that these populations face intheir daily life, indicating the complexity of social change and the sense of development. Three conceptshave guided the discussion and design of this project: development, territory and social technologies.
