This essay deals with the opportunities persistently missed by Brazil, a scenario aggravated by the current government and the pandemic of Covid-19. These opportunities are related to Brazilian biodiversity but also the country's socio-diversity and scientific and technological research potential. It also addresses our species' refusal to understand its dependence on nature, a situation that was even more evident with the pandemic and the impact of this refusal on its relations with biodiversity.
