An evaluation of the conventionalization signs of organic markets in Brazil

In this article an analysis is conducted on the interdependence of variables that indicate the process of organic market conventionalization. This correlation also happens between these variables and the food and inputs markets and the standards that control the products with the organic quality. The objective of the paper is to analyze the process of organic markets conventionalization from the observation of these interdependencies. The data was generated through a qualitative methodology with a convenience sample, including farmers and technicians from five states: São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina e Rio Grande do Sul. Therefore, some conventionalization signs were interpreted as a temporary situation and/or triggered by the organic markets such as low supply of inputs with the organic quality. Also, conventionalization signs were identified which were not listed by other biographies, indicating the relevance of a comprehensive approach in order to understand the conventionalization process of organic markets.
