This article analyzes bioculturality as a strategy of resistance of the Tembé-Tenetehar Indigenous Peoples in the face of environmental and territorial threats to the Terra Indígena Alto Rio Guamá (TIARG) in Pará. Bioculturality, understood as the interdependence between biodiversity, culture, and linguistic diversity, is essential for understanding the relationship between Indigenous peoples and their territories and for maintaining their identity and survival. This research, with a qualitative approach, was based on bibliographic and field research, with participant observation, carried out between 2023 and 2024 in several TIARG villages. The Tembé-Tenetehar, originally from Maranhão, have experienced displacement and a strong acculturation process, exacerbated by the territorial invasions that occurred within TIARG in the 1970s. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and territorial conflicts profoundly threaten their cultural and spiritual practices. Elements of the fauna and flora essential to the holding of biocultural events have become scarce, hampering their rituals and the transmission of knowledge. Despite these adversities, the Tembé have led initiatives of cultural recovery, reforestation, bioeconomy, and territorial management, integrating traditional knowledge with contemporary techniques. Youth have taken on a prominent role in defending the territory, strengthening the people's resilience and generating hope for future Indigenous generations. The study concludes that valuing bioculturality is vital to ensuring the continuity of the Tembé way of life and reinforces the importance of public policies that respect and promote the rights and autonomy of Indigenous peoples.
