About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente is published by the Post-Graduate Programme in Environment and Development (PPGMADE) of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil. The main objectives of the journal are publishing quality articles on environmental issues at the local, national and international level, and widely disseminating them in various academic circuits. Anchored in an interdisciplinary perspective, the central focus of the journal is the discussion of issues that fall at the intersection between society and nature. Such social-environmental focus seeks an innovative, multidimensional and comprehensive approach, originating from a deep dialogue between the various fields of scientific knowledge. Strictly disciplinary articles or those of a strict technical nature should be submitted to other journals and will not be considered for publication, regardless of their quality.

Peer Review Process

DMA adopts double-blind peer review, in which reviewers do not have access to the name(s) of the author(s) and vice versa. The body of reviewers is formed only by Ph.D. researchers from Brazilian and foreign institutions. Authors, be sure to check out the criteria and other details of the process on our Publication Guidelines page.

Publication Frequency

Since 2020, two volumes are published per year in continuous flow, one referring to the period from January to June and the other from July to December. Articles are made available online as soon as they are ready for publication (reviewed and layout)

Open Access Policy

This journal fulfils DOAJ's (Directory of Open Access Journals) definition of open access, and adopts the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license since January 2023.
