Abstract

This article aims at revisiting old advertisements focusing on
a socio-historical moment marked by the values of our
patriarchal tradition. In the core of this tradition it is possible
to visualize that the hierarchy set the man on the top and designed the woman as a fragile and an unfit being. Based on
the theoretical propositions of French Discourse Analysis, it
was taken into account the principle that the individual’s
identity is a historical construction realized by the language
and that the media is where enunciation takes place and fakes
the social representations.
