Abstract

This article analyzes the relation between the concepts of inauthenticity present in the works of Martin Heidegger and Julio Cortázar. Pointing to the failure of cortazarian critics who recognize in the Argentines work the heideggerian concept of inauthenticity, this article contends that both authors propose dissimilar views regarding the question of authentic behavior. Nevertheless, other heideggerian concepts such as anxiety, loneliness, and being-in-the-world do appear clearly in several instances of cortazarian narrative. As such, the article proceeds to a reading of such instances under the light of Heideggers Being and time.
