Abstract

This study is characterized by an experienced account whose goal was to contribute to improve the quality of the care delivery offered to the smoking body asking for help to stop smoking. The smoking act is a ritual marked by symbolism, not always detected by the less experienced observer. The philosophical and anthropological view made it possible to perceive the factors responsible for smoking initiation, desires, frustrations, certainties and uncertainties that are associated with smoking. This comprehension of what is experienced by the smoking body influenced the reassessment of the nursing consultation to the smoker enrolled in the program.
