RISK FACTORS FOR THE SPECIFIC HYPERTENSIVE PREGNANCY SYNDROME AMONG HOSPITALIZED WOMEN WITH PRE-ECLAMPSIA

Cross sectional field-research, aiming to identify risk factors for pre-eclampsia among hospitalized womanwith this disease. Subjects were 40 women admitted to maternity tertiary referral center. Data were collected from Januaryto February 2006, through interviews, and then grouped into tables, using univariate statistical analysis. Risk factors wereprevalent in the group were primiparity, pregnancy at the extremes of reproductive age, obesity, low education, low familyincome, personal and family history of chronic hypertension, and a high calories, low protein and hipersodium diet. Isessential to the professionals who deliver the prenatal care to update their knowledge so they can properly investigatesuch factors and identify potentially risky pregnancies, taking the necessary precautions to prevent eclampsia andcontribute to reducing maternal and perinatal mortality.Downloads
