MISHAPS OF LATIN AMERICAN INTEGRATION: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE REGIONALISM OF THE 1960S, 1990S AND 2000S.

Abstract

The literature on Latin American integration often points out three regionalistic "waves" in the region: in the 1960s, 1990s, and 2000s. However, there are still some who claims that the Latin American regionalism is "meaningless" or erratic. The present article seeks to compare these distinct historical periods in order to assess what mishaps are common over the temporal experience and whether there has been- or not- progress in regional cooperation.
