Abstract

Objetivo: Comparar las complicaciones entre el catéter central de inserción periférica con ajuste de longitud con corte y sin corte.

Método: Ensayo clínico controlado aleatorio. La muestra fue compuesta por 46 neonatos ingresados en una Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales en Paraná, Brasil, entre abril y julio de 2021, con indicación de catéter. Los participantes fueron aleatorizados electrónicamente y divididos en un grupo de control, cuya longitud de catéter se ajustó cortándolo, y un grupo experimental, cuyo catéter se mantuvo sin cortar. Los datos se analizaron mediante la prueba de Mann-Whitney y la prueba de Fisher.

Resultados: La duración media de la estancia del catéter fue de diez días en ambos grupos (p=0,79). No se identificaron diferencias relevantes en cuanto a las complicaciones, como la infiltración, la obstrucción y la infección.

Conclusión: El corte del catéter para el ajuste de la longitud no interfiere en las complicaciones presentadas. Registro REBEC: RBR-2w4dpg5.
