Abstract

The vision of the illness/health process is culturally constructed in the history of people and, in the West, particularly, it imposed caring patterns that do not solve most of the evils that afflict people. It’s important to understand the racionality underlying such vision when we look for it’s overcoming. In this sense it becomes an essencial task to the health professionals. So, the article points to the extent how the autonomy of the individuais in relation to their own health has been harmed by the official health caring practices. It shows also how these same practices do not consider another important aspect of people s lives: the process of labor, to wich everyone is particularly engaged and where he suffers, in great measure, the loss of his health.
