Abstract

This essay exposes the differences between the concept of text genres developed in Linguistics and adopted on the Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (Brazilian course curriculum standards) and the traditional one, which still underlines text writing in schools. Texts written by students from public schools of Curitiba are analyzed, from three different grades: 4th and 8th grades from fundamental education, and 3rd grade intermediary education. The analyzed texts show the permanence of texts conceived without communication functions, didatically organized upon the different complexity degrees of representation of reality.
