Attention to women at different stages of life: Nursing interventions in light of TIPESC

Abstract

The process of experiencing the feminine condition is marked by transformations that manifest themselves in unique ways. From adolescence to aging, women experience dynamic and continuous changes, influenced by biological, cultural, and social factors that directly impact health care. In this context, comprehensive women's health care must address these specificities, aligning nursing interventions and care with theoretical foundations that guide critical and systematic practices. This report describes interventions conducted in the context of Primary Health Care with women, based on the Theory of Practical Intervention in Public Health Nursing (TIPESC). This is an experience report developed from university extension activities of the nursing program, supported by the TIPESC theoretical-methodological framework. Women participated in the interventions at different stages of life, and the experience was structured in five stages: capturing objective reality; interpreting objective reality; developing an intervention plan; implementing interventions; and reinterpreting reality. The application of TIPESC enabled a broad and multidimensional approach, encompassing themes inherent to menopause, pregnancy, and reproductive health. The main limitations were the limited time required to apply the theory and the lack of longitudinal follow-up of participants. The intervention, supported by TIPESC, promoted positive transformation in the women served, strengthening health literacy and autonomy in the health-disease process. Furthermore, it contributed to the development of academic competencies in comprehensive women's health care, in line with the principles of the Unified Health System.
