Abstract

The paper discusses how young people relate to technology, not seen as newor old, but as an instrument to communicate and keep informed, amuse and tohelp in school projects. Although it is clear that the new generations are muchmore familiarized with new technology, the focus is on the need to understandthe complexity of the new scenario, which requires a deeper understanding of theconcepts of interactivity, multimedia, internet and hypertext. It is discussed howyoung people enter in contact with this diversity of instruments. It is stressed, however, that no matter how complex the computer can be, nothing can replacethe role of interacting with other people in the learning process.
