O objetivo do texto é uma aproximação da obra Raízes do Brasil de Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, como fonte de estudo da História das instituições jurídicas. Com destaque para elementos formadores da cultura brasileira e citações sobre as instituições legais, práticas dos agentes operadores do Direito e o debate nos anos 30 do século XX sobre a formação do Estado nacional. Com vistas em estudar o clássico, arrolar elementos da História do Direito no Brasil e analisar, no contexto da obra, propostas institucionais.
