Carga de trabajo y calidad de vida de cuidadores informales de pacientes en cuidados paliativos*

Objetivo: Investigar la correlación entre carga y calidad de vida de los cuidadores informales de pacientes en cuidados paliativos.
Método: Estudio cuantitativo, analítico, con 70 cuidadores de pacientes internados en un hospital del noroeste paulista que respondieron al cuestionario sociodemográfico, al World Health Organization Quality of Life - Bref y al Cuestionario de Evaluación de la Carga del Cuidador Informal, en el período de octubre de 2023 a marzo de 2024. Los datos fueron analizados con estadística descriptiva, prueba de normalidad Shapiro-Wilk y correlación de Spearman.
Resultados: 28 (40%) eran hijos, 54 (77,1%) mujeres, que dedicaban más de 18 horas diarias al cuidado, carga moderada para 38 (54,3%) de los participantes. La percepción general de la calidad de vida fue buena, a pesar de fragilidades en dominios específicos como el social. Se verificó una correlación negativa significativa (p<0,05) entre carga y calidad de vida en las diferentes dimensiones analizadas.
Conclusión: Los datos sugieren la necesidad de fortalecer políticas públicas orientadas a la prevención del deterioro del cuidador informal en cuidados paliativos.
