OBSTETRIC PRACTICES ADOPTED BY A PUBLIC MATERNITY IN RIO BRANCO-AC

Abstract

Objective: To identify the obstetric practices used in childbirth and birth care in a public maternity hospital in Rio Branco, Acre. Method:Descriptive exploratory cross-sectional study with 460 women who had vaginal deliveries and their newborns from November 2013 to February 2014. Data was collected through interviews, medical records and documentation related to the newborn and submitted to descriptive and statistical analysis.Results:Demonstrably useful practices: Presence of a companion 400 (87%); use of a light diet 349 (75.9%); freedom of position and movement 374 (81.3); use of partograph forms in 246 (53.5%); pain relief 360 (78.3%) and skin to skin contact 433 (94.1%). Inappropriate practices: Amniotomy 249 (54.2%). Clearly harmful practices: oxytocin infusion 87 (39%), horizontal position during fetal expulsion 435 (94.6%), Kristeller maneuver in the expulsionperiod 71 (15.5%).Conclusion:The obstetrical model currently used can be abandoned, but this involves support to the training of health professionals.

Graduada em Licenciatura e Bacharelado em Enfermagem pela Universidade Federal do Acre (2000), Pós graduada Enfermagem Obstétrica pela Universidade Federal do Acre (2004) e Educação Profissional na Área de Saúde: Enfermagem, pela Fundação Osvaldo Cruz - FIOCRUZ (2004). Mestra em enfermagem pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo - UNIFESP (2015). Desenvolve atividades de ensino e pesquisa nos cursos de graduação e pós graduação Enfermagem, nas áreas de Saúde da mulher, Enfermagem obstétrica, parto e nascimento. Doutoranda em Enfermagem pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo - UNIFESP (2016).

Janine Schirmer, Universidade Federal de São Paulo

Graduação em Enfermagem e Obstetrícia pela Universidade Regional do Noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (1983). Mestrado em Enfermagem Obstétrica pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1989) e doutorado em Enfermagem Materno-Infantil pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1995). Atualmente é Professora Titular do Departamento de Enfermagem em Saúde da Mulher , Diretora da Escola Paulista de Enfermagem, Editora-Chefe da Revista Acta Paulista de Enfermagem e Vice Presidente do Conselho Gestor do Hospital Universitário da UNIFESP. Tem experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Enfermagem Obstétrica, Saúde da Mulher e Doação e Transplante de Órgãos e Tecidos, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: assistência gestação, parto e nascimento, atenção a saúde da mulher e, ainda pesquisa na área de política pública de saúde, ética/bioética e doação e transplante de órgãos e tecidos. Bolsista de Produtividade CNPq 2016.

Leila Maria Geromel Dotto, Universidade Federal do Acre

Possui graduação em Enfermagem pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (1985), Mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (2002), Doutorado em Enfermagem pela Escola de Enfermagem de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo (2006), e Pós-Doutorado em Enfermagem pela EERP-USP (2011). Atualmente é Professora Associado da Universidade Federal do Acre. Coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Saúde Coletiva da UFAC (Mestrado e Doutorado). Atua na área de Saúde da Mulher, nos seguintes temas: gravidez, parto, aleitamento materno, contracepção e prevenção de câncer cervico-uterino.

Clisângela Lago Santos, Universidade Federal do Acre

Possui graduação em Enfermagem pela Universidade Federal do Acre (2004) e mestrado em Enfermagem pela Universidade Federal de São Paulo (2014). Atualmente é professor da Universidade Federal do Acre. Tem experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Enfermagem em Saúde da Mulher, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: atenção primária, atualização de estrutura curricular, método de barreira, anticoncepção e saúde da mulher.
