Abstract

Nursing performance along the time has developed in our society, carrying out new functions, conquering new settings and mainly leadership. During the academic trajectory, the need of understanding the meaning of the work delivered by nurses on the part of practitioners and nursing assistants has emerged. So, this exploratory and descriptive research aims to identify the perception of the nursing team regarding nurses working performance, get to know those professionals expectations in relation to nurses management tasks. For data collection, a questionnaire was used with five objective questions and six subjective questions addressed to the practitioners and nursing assistants from the units of clinical and surgical admittance, adult ICU and ER of a philanthropic hospital located in the central area of Rio Grande do Sul State/ Brazil. Data collection was held in March of 2005. Results point out the need of nurses presence, as well as the importance of their practical and managerial performance, always seeking for the nursing teams good relationship and welfare.
