Abstract

In this work, we try to take a look at the action in the drama, particularly in the play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett. This task will be performed in three stages. In the first stage, the attempt will be to do a brief history of the concept of action: The starting point is the Aristotle's Poetics, through reflection on the action in the modern world from Hegel's aesthetics and, finally, the thought of Francis Fergusson will be added to the course, which reviews and reconsiders the concept of action in the twentieth century. With a few tools at hand, in the second stage, the study will seek to understand the action in the play of Beckett, and from this, the third stage of the work will take place: to relate the action of Waiting for Godot to the concept of allegory by Walter Benjamin.
