Abstract

The importance of rivers from the civilizing processes to the contemporaneity is noted. Its social, cultural, economic and historical function that give subsidy, contribution or subsidy to the life of man. But, however, they have become examples of degraded environments due to anthropic interventions that have modified their morphology due to the development of cities. In this sense, the study sought to evaluate the effects of the interventions executed out in the urban drainage network Hydrographic Basin of the Sangradouro, in Cáceres - Mato Grosso. The work was developed from the cabinet and field stages. The historical information was obtained from the records of the Historical Museum of Cáceres and the Nucleus of Documentation of Written and Oral History - Nudheo / UNEMAT. The thematic canalization maps and changes in the drainage network of the basin were elaborated through the ArcGis SIG version 10.3, and with the help of the Brazilian Armmilitaryy Geographic Database, Folha SE_21 scale 1: 100,000 and Google Earth Pro. revealed that the main canalization works identified were widening and deepening of the river channel, as well as the realignment and opening of new channels. The maps gave visibility to changes in the basin generated by interventions in the drainage network. This process was coupled with the expansion of the urban network, through the grounding of areas used for buildings and the streets, which caused the bed to be silted and flooded. To the same extent, the discharge of residential and / or industrial effluents and the disposal of waste add to the unregulated canalization, intensifying damages to the environment.
Key words: Urban Landscape; Canalization; Environmental degradation.
