French language: present and necessary

Abstract

This paper will present the contributions the process of teaching and learning French could bring. Our goalis to emphasize that the acquisition of this language is very useful to the individual's formation, especially incultural and academic fields. We talk about these contributions relying upon many authors' opinion abouthow the acquisition of a foreign language can help people. We want to show that, in spite of living in a timein which the foreign languages aren't prestige, people are still interested in learning French. In order to provethis, we will present the data collected in a questionnaire given to some students from the French Courseoffered by the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV).
