Mulheres, Educação e Cidadania: Ações Extensionistas para a Equidade Social

Abstract

This article presents the experience report of an outreach project developed by a university in Maringá, in partnership with a local philanthropic organization, aimed at promoting education, citizenship, and gender equality in a context of social vulnerability, in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 5. The initiative sought to conduct thematic workshops and understand participants’ perceptions of these activities. The results show a high level of female participation, as well as age and racial diversity, along with predominantly positive evaluations of the activities. The workshops were perceived as safe spaces for listening, knowledge exchange, and relationship-building, contributing to participants’ empowerment and awareness of their rights. Moreover, the experience highlighted the importance of methodological strategies sensitive to the realities of the target audience, such as the use of accessible language and audiovisual resources. The experience demonstrates the potential of university extension.
