Abstract

This article intends to discuss and develop some points regarding the idea of radical Constitution, introduced by Vera Karam de Chueiri in her article Radical Constitution: an idea and a practice. Taking a few concepts from Jacques Rancière’s work, we emphasize how that concept of Constitution could develop a positive relation with political conflicts without risking the many achievements of social movements and the rights of political minorities. Finally, we discuss how the idea of radical Constitution could be productive in thinking the complex, difficult interdependence between constitutionalism and democracy, something that is also crucial for Chueiri’s work.
