Abstract

Objetivo: conocer la percepción de las personas mayores sobre la violencia física, la violencia psicológica y el abandono. 

Método: estudio descriptivo transversal con un enfoque cualitativo, basado en la Teoría de las Representaciones Sociales. Desarrollado con personas mayores registradas en una Unidad Básica de Salud del municipio de Campina Grande-PB, Brasil, entre los meses de abril y mayo de 2022, a través de la recogida de datos basada en una entrevista semiestructurada.

Resultados: Participaron en el estudio 14 ancianos, de los cuales el 86% (12) eran del sexo femenino y tenían entre 61 y 83 años. Los resultados mostraron que los ancianos son conscientes de las tipologías discutidas, siendo la violencia psicológica la menos comprendida por ellos; en relación con el abandono, los ancianos lo describieron como soledad y asilo.

Conclusión: Este estudio permitió comprender el concepto de violencia en las personas mayores, lo que contribuye sustancialmente a las acciones sanitarias, especialmente por parte de los profesionales de enfermería en la identificación e intervención asertiva.
