The pregnancy in adolescence may cause serious trouble to family life, to personal, social and professional development of the young pregnant. It was a descriptive research with qualitative approach aiming to: uncover teenage primiparas perceptions on pregnancy, enrolled in Mãe Curitibana Program; to investigate why those adolescents got pregnant and to know their life projects facing their new reality. These data were taken from a HEALTH UNIT (UNIDADE DE SAÚDE) PSF in the municipality of Curitiba/ Brazil, through semi-structured interviews, open and closed-ended questions, with teenagers aging 10 to 19 years old, during nursing consultations and home visits. This study may contribute for nursing actions by means of putting nursing professionals closer to the changing process occurring in adolescence and fosters the young participation in several care programs. Better knowledge of values, ideas and expectations of this life stage will enable the nursing professional a more effective bonding, thus contributing for sensitization and reflection on teenagers setbacks.
