Abstract

The purpose of this study is to demonstrate professional experience, as a nurse, in providing care to clients sumitted to surgical treatment to correct haemophilic arthropaties. It´s a report based on experience with the objective to contribute for the technical/scientific development of this profession and to optimize quality of care provided to those patients. The work has been conducted in Parana University Hospital, in the Orthopaedic, Trauma and Pediatric Surgery Departments handling haemophilic children, teenagers and adults under specific nursing care in pre and post-operatory periods. The work was started in August 1997, showing satisfying results in relation to treatment, recovery of affected articulation and rehabilitation of operated patients. As assistance nurses, we constantly search for additional knowhow in the area, developing new intelectual and manual skills for the qualification of the whole process of providing care.
