Abstract

This descriptive study with a qualitative approach aimed to investigate the changes occurring after maternity in adolescence. The 17 adolescent primiparas who participated in the research were selected based on criteria of inclusion and exclusion, in a referral service in the municipality of Barbalha in the state of Ceará. Data collection was through semi-structured interviews during home visits in the period June – October 2011. The technique of content analysis was used for organizing and analyzing the data, from which the following category emerged: Consequences of maternity in adolescence, along with the sub-categories Social consequences of maternity, negative perception of self-image, maternity’s behavioral consequences and Worry/insecurity with contraception. The study supported other findings on this issue, revealing important aspects and their repercussions in the adolescents’ lives.

Possui graduação em Enfermagem pela Universidade Regional do Cariri - URCA(2011). Especialista em Estratégia de Saúde da Família pela Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú - UVA(2012), Mestranda em Saúde da Criança e do Adolescente pela Universidade Federal do Pernambuco -UFPE. 

Glauberto da Silva Quirino, Universidade Regional do Cariri

Possui graduação em Enfermagem pela Universidade Estadual Vale do Acaraú (2001), graduação em Curso de Ciências Habilitação em Biologia pela Universidade Regional do Cariri (1997) e mestrado em Bioprospecção Molecular pela Universidade Regional do Cariri (2009). Doutor em Educação em Ciências: Química da Vida e Saúde pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria - RS. Atualmente é professor assistente da Universidade Regional do Cariri. Tem experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Docência, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: sexualidade, adolescência, gravidez, período pós-parto e conhecimento.

Gleice Adriana Araújo Gonçalves, Universidade Regional do Cariri

Possui Graduação em Enfermagem pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (2001), Especialização em Docência do Ensino Superior (2009), e Mestrado em Enfermagem pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba (2003). Atualmente é Professora Assistente da Universidade Regional do Cariri e pesquisadora do CNPq vinculada ao Grupo de Pesquisa em Saúde Coletiva (GRUPESC) na linha de pesquisa: Enfermagem e a Promoção da Saúde Sexual e Reprodutiva. Tem experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Saúde da Mulher e da Criança, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Saúde Materno-Infantil, Direitos Sexuais e Reprodutivos.
