Abstract

A autonomia profissional do enfermeiro corresponde à realização de ações de enfermagem por meio da utilização de habilidades, conhecimentos e atitudes para tomar decisões e resolver situações no seu espaço de atuação. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar quais aspectos da autonomia profissional do enfermeiro estão presentes nas produções científicas brasileiras. Para isso, realizou-se uma revisão integrativa que analisou 21 artigos de língua portuguesa publicados no período de 2000 a 2009. As bases de dados pesquisadas foram: LILACS, SciELO e BDENF, utilizando-se os descritores autonomia profissional, enfermagem e a palavra autonomia. Como resultados, emergiram duas categorias: Enfermagem: o desenvolvimento de uma prática submissa e Possibilidades de uma prática autônoma para o enfermeiro, por sua vez formadas por nove subcategorias que abordam sugestões para à autonomia profissional. Ao desenvolver fatores como utilização de conhecimento científico, responsabilidade profissional e inserção política, o enfermeiro estará exercendo seu papel com autonomia.
