Ten samples of pasteurized milk type "C", from the retail trade of São José do Rio Preto region, were submitted to microbiological analyses. The results proved that 50% of the samples were in conflict whith the current microbiological patterns. This might be caused due to the milking inadequate conditions, transportation or bad processing, in the deliverance of the product, also the maintenance of these products in higher temperatures than the legislation permits.
