Abstract

In the Central Market of Teresina 450 "branquinhas" (Curimatus ciliatus) a fresh water fish, were collected, comprising thirty weekly samples of fifteen fishes each. The hygienic conditions of the fishes were evaluated through research of Salmonellasp and Vibrio cholerae, enumeration of Escherichia coli and count of Staphylococcus . Research evidence showed the presence of Escherichia coli, Salmonella sp and Staphylococcus aureusin 20,0%, 6,6% and 3,3% of the samples, respectively. No evidence of contamination with Vibrio cholerae was found.
