MICROBIOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF SUGAR CANE JUICE IN CURITIBA CITY (BRAZIL)

Abstract


Cane juice was analysed for various microbiological indicators of hygienicsanitary quality. The indicators for contamination were fecal coliform bacteria, total coliform bacteria and fecal streptococci. One hundred samples were analysed, being collected in 50 different places in downtown and neighbouring areas. At least one sample, collected in each place had a maximum count of total coliform bacteria.
