Este estudio investiga cómo la «manosfera», una comunidad online masculina, se apropia de películas populares para promover su propia agenda. Al mismo tiempo, se busca identificar cómo las tensiones y los conflictos políticos se materializan en el contexto de los mecanismos propios de la cultura digital (a través de la memética y de una lógica de viralidad y replicación, por ejemplo). Se hace referencia a Mina (2019) para discutir el papel de la cultura memética en las acciones de la llamada alt-right, en medio de una guerra cultural analizada por Nagle (2017) y Rhodes (2021). Con esta base teórica, se identifican las características comunes entre el uso político de arquetipos de hombres oprimidos y sus reflejos en el mundo real.
