Sigma's Cinema Pop Misoginy

This study investigates how the "manosphere", a male online community, appropriates popular films to promote its own agenda. At the same time, the aim is to identify how political tensions and conflicts manifest themselves within the context of mechanisms specific to digital culture (through memetics and a logic of virality and replication, for instance). Mina (2019) is referenced to discuss the role of memetic culture in the actions of the so-called alt-right, in the midst of a cultural war analyzed by Nagle (2017) and Rhodes (2021). With this theoretical basis, common characteristics are identified between the political use of social representations of oppressed men and their reflections in the real world.
