Abstract

The main contribution of Varro to the History of Linguistics is the discussion about the analogy and anomaly. The author dedicates three books from his works on the Latim Language to fight against the analogists and anomalists arguments and to look for a solution to the quarrel. In this study, parts of Varros work, which exemplify both poinsts of view, will be analysed. The solution given by Varro to conciliate them will be also exposed.
