Abstract

This paper discusses the literary translation in the English teacher education as a possibility for problematizing homogenizing relations between global e local. This research poits at questions regarding reading translated literary texts, and, at the same time, the circulation of literatures in English, in school contexts or not, in Brazil. From the proposal of Orientações Curriculares para o Ensino Médio (Ministry of Education, Brazil, 2006), the discussion about translation and the origin myth (Derrida 2002), and the proposal of a pedagogy of translated literature (Venuti 2002), this paper suggests that inserting discussions about the foreing literature, in translated versions, may contribute with pedagogies that help to unveil hegemony in global and local relations, in foreign language teaching contexts.
