About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Jornal de Políticas Educacionais (JPE) is an online, open-access journal with a continuous publication flow. It does not charge any fees for submission or publication. Articles may be published in Portuguese, English, or Spanish.
It has been organized and maintained by researchers from the Núcleo de Políticas Educacionais – NuPE, within the Education Sector at UFPR, since 2007. It was rated A2 by Qualis CAPES for the 2017–2020 period. ISSN 1981-1969.
Its aim is to publish original articles in the field of Educational Policies, covering topics such as policy analysis across all levels and modalities of education, educational policy evaluation, educational planning and management, education funding, comparative education, and other subjects within this field of knowledge.
JPE also features a “Theses and Dissertations” section, dedicated to the scientific dissemination of works by graduates from the Educational Policies track of UFPR’s PPGE program.
Peer Review Process
JPE follows the peer review policy outlined below:
- Registration of article or review submission via the online system.
- Editorial Team assessment of the article or review’s relevance to the journal’s editorial line and scope.
Preliminary evaluation criteria:
a) The article must present an original contribution to the research field.
b) The article or review must align with the journal’s editorial line: the topic must relate to educational policy and have potential to serve as a reference for other studies.
c) Language accuracy.
d) Compliance with ABNT standards for citations, references, abstracts, etc.
e) Clear evidence of ethical research practices, preferably through explicit mention of approval by an Ethics Committee, when applicable.
- Forwarding to reviewers.
- Review and comparison of evaluations:
4.1. Articles or reviews with favorable evaluations are sent to the Editorial Team coordination, which will forward the reviewers’ comments and correction requests to the authors.
4.2. Articles with one favorable and one unfavorable review are sent to a third reviewer.
4.3. Articles with two unfavorable reviews will be rejected.
4.4. Final acceptance and publication scheduling will occur only after the revised text is received.
4.5. Articles are reviewed by academic peers under anonymity (blind peer review).
4.6. The journal uses iThenticate (a partnership between Turnitin and Crossref) for plagiarism detection.
4.7. JPE is funded by the Núcleo de Políticas Educacionais and does not charge any processing or publication fees.

Journal History
The Jornal de Políticas Educacionais (JPE) is an online journal organized and maintained by researchers from the Núcleo de Políticas Educacionais – NuPE, within the Education Sector at UFPR, since 2007.
NuPE has been active since 2002, fostering discussions in the field of educational policies and monitoring regional and national policy developments.
Until 2014, JPE was published semiannually; since 2015, it has adopted a continuous publication model.
