Focus and Scope

FOCUS AND SCOPE Extensão em Foco is a jornal published by the Pro-Rectory of Extension and Culture ate the University of Paraná (UFPR), with the aim of addressing current and important issues in understanding references, methodologies, and practices of Extension.

The journal accepts contributions on University Extension that comply with guidelines and thematic areas established in the Política Nacional de Extensão Universitária FORPROEX:

In addition to the original article and experience report, the journal accepts works related to University Extension in the form of reviews of prominent books, review articles and thematic dossiers, the last one to Special Editions.

Peer Review Process

The Journal Extensão em Foco submits the articles it received to the evaluation of two consultants with experience in the field, with degree equal to or higher than that of the most senior author of each article, who works at institutions other than the authors. The evaluators are not informed of the authors’ personal details, or vice versa, as a guarantee of the impartiality of the process. Articles that receive discrepant evaluations are sent to a third evaluator. The list of evaluators who have contributed to the journal is published in the editorial of each edition.

Publication Frequency

The Journal Extensão em Foco publishes two editions a year. The editions are published ar the beginning of each semester. Throughout year, there may be calls for special editions.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate free access to its content, based on the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public leads to a greater democratization of knowledge worldwide.

Journal History

Since its establishment in 2008, the journal Extensão em Foco has had the following editors:

Professor Dr. Gláucia da Silva Brito was responsible for issues 1, 2 and 3; Professor Dr. Gláucia da Silva Brito and Professor Dr. Luciana Panke were responsible for issue 4; Professor Dr. Luciana Panke was responsible for issues 5 and 6; Professor Dr. Nádia Gaiofatto Gonçalves was responsible for issues 7, 8, 9 and 10. Beginning with issue 8, the journal became exclusively online, with ISSN 2358-7180. From 2015 the journal was edited by Professor Dr. Roberta Chiesa Bartelmebs at the Palotina Campus. In 2023 the journal appointed Professor Dr. Mabel Karina Arantes Alves as Editor in Chief.

In 2020 the journal joined REDREU – the Network of University Extension Journal Editors of the Association of Montevideo Group Universities.

As of August 2023 some editorial changes were implemented regarding submission formats, title requirements and maximum number of authors (see Submissions).

In January 2024 the journal license was changed from Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 to CC BY 4.0.
