The aim of this research is to demonstrate that corporate cooperation, together with environmental management, can reduce quality costs. In the development of this article, an exploratory research was conducted and the primary results originated from companies of the metallurgical sector in the city of Santa Maria (RS), at Gerdau Riograndense plant (in the region of Porto Alegre) and local transporters. Secondary data were collected from internet sources, public documents and bibliographical research. Through the simulation carried out in this study, it became evident that the renewable residues from the metallurgical sector can have a better economical destination through corporate partnership. It is possible to conclude that environmental cooperation can provide several improvements in the quality and in the processes of metallurgical companies, especially in the reduction of costs of internal failures and, consequently, in the reduction of global quality costs.
