In Brazil, the diagnoses of the deindustrialization phenomenon focus on assessing the share of the manufacturing industry in the GDP. In this regard, there are not many studies that evaluate the topic from the perspective of employment and income distribution. However, this diagnosis is not neglected by research that addresses countries at a more advanced stage of development than Brazil. This article proposes to examine the changes in the sectoral composition of the product, employment, and income distribution between 2004 and 2014, a period marked by the deepening of Brazilian economy’s deindustrialization process. The aim is to understand the relationships between the sectoral composition of the product, the phenomenon of deindustrialization, and the dynamics of income inequality in the country.
