THE EXPRESSIVE DIMENSION OF HOME CARE: AN INSIGHT THROUGH TEACHING PRACTICE

This text objectifies to report an experience account of teaching practice and the evolving of the expressive care dimension through teaching home care to nursing undergraduates. Experiencing nursing teaching practice brought about reflection on what care is, who the cared patient is, what home care is like, and also what kind of professionals we want to graduate. Thus, we perceive that the instrumental and expressive care dimensions have been present in home care reality. We consider expressive care dimension to be an important aspect of humanized nursing home care since it goes through all caring process and is experienced by all involved subjects, that is to say, faculty, nursing undergraduates, patients and their family members/ caregivers; it entails all aspects of human existence that is why they must be acknowledged and considered.
